The newsletter of the Prior General began in 1965 and, as of 11 March 1967, was called COSMO meaning C(ommentarii) O(rdinis) S(ervorum) M(ariae) O(bservationes). From 1969 onwards it slowly began to lose its exclusive nature as the Prior General’s letter and in 1970 it became the news bulletin of the OSM Center for Communications. In reality the OSM Center for Communications did not exist, as such, at that time. It was the General Chapter of Opatija (1971), which approved a decree – no. 15 – stating: “to assure an efficient and fruitful sharing of information and ideas among the entire Servite family, the General Chapter decides to create a Center for Communication at the Order level to collect and transmit news to the entire Order”. COSMO is now the bulletin of the OSM Center for Communications. It is published once in every two months in four linguistic editions (Italian, English, Spanish and French), under the care of the General Secretary for the OSM Center for Communications.
From 2008 the same Center has published an electronic monthly news bulletin called COSMO ON LINE (electronic bulletin of quick information from the Center of Communications) as another branch of modern communication.
